Dear Colleagues and Friends,On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we are pleased to announce that the
10th International Symposium on Optical Materials (IS-OM10), will be held in Lyon (France) from July 6th to 10th, 2026.
ISOM provides an interdisciplinary forum for the presentation of the latest developments and breakthroughs in fundamental research and practical applications in the broad field of optical and optoelectronic materials, including material design and crystal growth technologies, structural and spectroscopic characterizations, and application-related issues.
IS-OM10 will continue the tradition established by the previous meetings headed by Prof. Tsuguo FUKUDA (IMR, Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan) and Prof. Georges BOULON (LPCML now ILM, UCBLyon1, France) in Singapore (1997), Lyon, France (2000), Keystone, USA (2003), Prague, Czech Republic (2006), Pisa, Italy (2009), Shanghai, China (2013), Lyon, France (2016), Wroclaw, Poland (2019), Tarragona, Spain (2023) and Lyon, France (2026).
This 10th edition holds special significance as we would like to pay tribute to the late Professor Georges BOULON, who passed away on November 17th, 2024. Georges was a caring person and a committed, tireless leader in the field of luminescence and optical materials. He brought these two communities together at various international scientific events and gained recognition far beyond Europe. Many of his colleagues, students, and friends expressed the desire to honor his memory. We are thus, taking this opportunity during the 10th anniversary edition of ISOM, a conference he co-founded 30 years ago, to express our consideration to his scientific contribution and our gratitude to his devotion to our community.
The symposium will be organized by the Institute for Light and Matter (ILM-CNRS), University Claude Bernard Lyon1, the 161 Committee of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), and the Institute for Materials Research (IMR), Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan. It will be held at the ENSSIB Building, close to the “Parc de la Tête d’Or”, on the DOUA campus UCBLyon1 in Lyon.
In addition to the scientific activity, we have organized some social events to enjoy being together in a friendly atmosphere in the charming city of Lyon. We hope you make the most of these moments and take full advantage of the scientific sessions and networking opportunities the symposium offers.
The deadline for abstract submission is March 2nd, 2026.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the symposium secretary at the e-mail address:
